Chandler Jones turned a 15-touchdown, 79-catch season into a spot on the honorable mention list for Sports Illustrated’s All-America team, the only San Jose State player to land on the team. The Mountain West landed a slough of honorable mentions from the magazine, but no actual spots on the first or second team.

The long and short of it: David Fales got snubbed. Again.
Fales heading to Senior Bowl
The one place where Fales didn’t get snubbed? The end-of-year all-star games. The senior quarterback will be taking part in the Senior Bowl early next year. He is the 15th player from San Jose State to participate in the game, and the first quarterback.
The game is on Jan. 25, 2014, at 1 p.m. on the NFL Network at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

- Fresno State sophomore receiver Devante Adams was the only Mountain West player on the AP’s all-America team, earning a spot on the second team.
- The San Jose State women’s basketball is in action at home twice this week with two winnable games, taking on Georgia State at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, then UMKC on Saturday at 2 p.m. The team is 4-5 and looking to snap a four-game losing streak.
- The San Jose State men’s basketball team also plays twice this week in two winnable games. They host UC Davis at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and take on NAIA Westminster (Utah) on Saturday. The Spartans are 3-6 and haven’t played in 10 days, but are coming off a strong win at Houston in which freshman guard Jalen James posted a triple-double.
